The
Language of Love
By
prayer, the ability is secured to feel the law of love, to speak
according to the law of love, and to do everything in harmony with
the law of love.
E.M. Bounds
Prayer
enlarges the heart until it is capable of containing God's gift
of Himself... A joyful heart is the inevitable result of a heart
burning with love.'
Mother Teresa
When
Jesus was asked what were the greatest commandments for a blessed
life, he named just two, - upon which he stated, 'rest all of God's
Laws':
1.
Love the Lord your God with all your soul and with all
your mind.
2. Love your neighbour as yourself
Love
leads you to your real Self, - your identity as God created.
Love is not just experience, an emotion that sweeps over you...
Love is a verb. It is a process of
continually becoming.
Through
prayer, we learn how to expand our capacity for giving and receiving
love. The reason why life becomes more fulfilling and meaningful
in a prayerful life, is because prayer continuously expands
the experience of love.
In
many ways, prayer is the grandest expression of love, for it
extends and relates with the heart of the universe, the 'Great Lover'
who created us.
Read
the prayers and poems of the spiritual masters and observe how
they will make you feel. Their
prayers serve as models for how to express the language of
love. They lead into the direct experience.
By
listening and modeling these prayers, you synchronize to the remarkable
capacity that saints, poets and philosophers had for love. As
prayer is the Spirit of Love within you, talking and listening to
the Love that created you, - prayers expand your capacity for love
in all dimensions of your life.
